Oh, Fred, you can count on it. However they have to take some responsibility for going off and leaving a fire going in the fireplace. I will say darn good bit of luck the flowers spilled and put out the fire.

You would be in worse trouble if the house caught fire, because you would have to deal with both angry people and angry fire.

They may be upset about the mess but they’d have been a lot more upset if the house had burned down and I won’t say the rest.

Those old halogen lamps could get dangerously hot, a loose curtain blown around and landing on the bulb would be a recipe for flames.

I agree with several readers that Mr and Mrs Dear shouldn’t be angry about the fire being put out. They will, of course, be very angry about the damage but a fire getting out of control would have caused much more damage than the two dogs.

You think you “may” be in trouble? Trust me Fred, unless there is a sudden tornado or a burglar who is still in the house, you WILL BE in trouble.

If it’s an occasional table, what is it the rest of the time?
