Whatever I did my parents said I should done better.
True story – In our state we have statewide year end exams from the state called “the Regents exams”. I took my first one of these exams at the end of 9th grade and it was in algebra. Exam allows 3 hours and one can leave after 2 hours. I finished it in about an hour and a half and had reviewed/checked my answers several times. When the 2 hours passed I turned in my paper and took a school bus home. My mom was terribly upset that I was home early – I should have taken more time.
The following week we returned for a part day at school to turn in our books and get our report cards. I got 100 on the exam. When I got home my mom asked what I had gotten that exam – I told her 100. Her reply “Next year you will study harder and do better.” HUH? (Note this was the class I did the best in during school/college. I was NOT a straight A student – I was rather heavy on Bs as I did not like to study.)
