Confronting your fears, and letting them walk over you are two different things. Instead of standing up for yourself, ambush them with a bucket of eggs. Or, a bucket of clowns. Who knows, maybe a bucket of clown eggs will work, too.
I got punched in the face when I stood up to my bully in front of what seemed like the entire school. It was totally worth it as he never bothered me again and I got some “street cred” for taking the punch and not backing down.
