When I lived in Florida, my local Beef O’ Brady’s had a side room for the Ohio State fans to watch their teams play. The Buckeyes thought that they were so special. The truth was that they were so loud and obnoxious that they needed to be kept away from the other sports fans and the restaurant diners.
Just heard of the death of Big Frank Howard, home run slugger and gentle giant.
Years ago, I met Whitey Ford at an autograph session at a Modell’s Sporting Goods shop. He denied that in the 1963 World Series, Howard hit a ball off him that started out going between his legs and finished by going over the center field fence.
Ken Harrelson’s memoirs devotes quite a bit of space to him
Iirc, the “Spy vs Spy” comic in Mad magazine was a pantomime strip. This guy has said more than he or his counterparts said in the whole run of the strip.

I never knew the Spies to talk. It was always a visual-gag thing.

Evidently, all he had to do was buy some Central Michigan gear and talk someone into giving him a sideline pass as was discovered today.
