I lived in Santa Barbara for 15 years back in the 70s and 80s. I would often get stopped by young people on the street and asked for the time of day. No matter what time it was, the response was always, “Wow.”
I never knew if it was “Wow, I’m late” or “Wow, as early as that.” All I knew is that it was always “Wow o’clock” in Santa Barbara.
