I remember that Halloween was on a Tuesday in 1978. I went Trick or Treating with my Dad. We were crossing at a pedestrian crossing when a car didn’t stop for us. My Dad pushed me out of the way but his own shoulder was injured by the car. It turned out that the driver’s brakes had failed. That was a really scary Halloween. I was eleven and turned twelve in December.
Back in 1938 Orson Welles spooked a lot of people with his Mercury Theater dramatization of “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast on Halloween eve. I was a kid back then and remember my mother getting really angry at him over that.
Our hospital where my therapy dog works has a parade of the therapy dogs tomorrow. My dog will be dressed as a doctor, if I can get the costume to fit her. I measured carefully but the costume is too big. I really don’t want to go, but she will enjoy it.

Here in New Jersey October 30 is called “Mischief Night”, I’ve heard in Detroit it’s called “Devil’s Night”.
