When I delivered newspapers, I had to walk to every door, put the paper in the mailbox, and make sure it was covered if there was rain and snow. And some customers still ripped me off.

Sundays and winters were a nightmare in Missoula in the late 60s. learned to fold a paper so I could side sling it from my bike as I passed the house so it landed where it was supposed to. Didn’t happen often when I delivered papers but sometimes the rubber bands slipped off or broke. However, I put them back together as best I could……

There was one high porch I remember having to heave the paper way up there, it still exists and when I see it I remember those 1960s days!

The paper I delivered required me to knock on the door on M-F because it was an evening paper then and weekends morning delivery.
