In some cases it’s a real bargain to buy in bulk IF you will actually use the product. And if you have room to store the extras. A nice pantry is a must!
A woman I know once told me that it doesn’t pay to buy things in bulk, because you have to figure in the storage cost. I said that there is no storage cost. I just keep it in a closet I already have and don’t have to pay for. She replied saying that each square meter of my home cost something, and I had to figure that into the cost of buying in bulk. We agreed to disagree.
Although I do have storage for bulk items, I figured out that my personal labor for moving things out of the way to get at other things quickly exceeded the illusory savings, especially because of my back injuries.
Bulk buying consumable supplies to save money (never mind calculating storage costs) makes sense but I don’t think shoes can be considered consumable supplies. Wearing them once or twice and putting them in the closet for good does not count as consuming.
Lake level rose more again last night. It is now up to its normal summer level but I don’t think it is going to stop. The crew showed up today and built a plywood road from the driveway down to the wall to try to minimize damage to the lawn. Tomorrow they start backfilling the wall with stone. Really nice to have a company that cares about the work they do.
Yup. I used to buy some stuff in bulk (mainly when I visited my grandmother), but now I’m more “immediate need” in terms of stuff. Though, splurging once in a while can be fun.
