One of my friend’s mother sold their dairy farm in Wisconsin after his father died and bought a condo in a high-rise in Seattle. No cows, no snow, no yard, no garden, no attic full of junk, no barn full of cows and junk; she’s living the life.
I want to see Arlo react when they have to batten down the hatches for a hurricane. And if Ludwig isn’t allowed, then they would be living under an authoritative HOA.
My Wife and I will always want to be in our home. But after watching the TV Show “Everyone Loves Raymond” where Raymond’s Mother and Father went to the Retirement Village, we actually saw our selves in that environment…..if you get a chance watch it. Then threaten your children about being like this couple.
Perhaps JJ is trying to ease us into his own retirement (as has been said before). I’d hate to see him retire because I love this strip, but life is too short to spend it working. So, I strongly encourage him to retire, providing that he wants to do so.
Age seems to reverse time. When you move to a home the clicks are in full swing (what group you eat with, park walkers with etc.) and you move backwards into lower grades. Finally pre-kindergarten, diapers and assisted living, before graduating to the beginning. At least watching my mother and mother-in law at two different facilities seems to be the case.
When I first started going to my current parish I would ‘joke’ that I was lowering the average. Sum years later I realized that I was beginning to raise the average age. Sigh. Maybe even Double Sigh.

Will there be selling them the condo? Or just letting them live there?

The gears are turning in Arlo’s head, he’s not sure about moving into a retirement condo yet.

How can Gus afford to let a beach front condo sit empty? That’s an expensive asset to not utilize. He could make money renting it.

Will they move? Won’t they move? Let’s go back to beating this dead horse again. I think I saw it twitching…
