Notice that the pretty girls all tend to look like Aunt Fritzi. Maybe that’s why Sluggo hangs around with Nancy—he has a secret crush on her guardian and this way, he can be near her! Something to think about.

Ernie plays an interesting game with ”spots”!
A little girl from a well-to-do family has a dog she walks.
The dog is not a spotted dog but is curious about Sluggo, and stands up on its back legs putting its front legs and paws on Sluggo while gazing into his eyes.
The dog has muddy paws & places his muddy paws all over Sluggo’s shirt & pants while the dog pants.
I think the strip is an excellent example of Bushmiller’s conceptual approach to cartooning.
