Dogs circle before lying down so they can be sure there are no predators in sight. Personally, I think mine does it to be sure there isn’t any unattended food in sight. I took her to the hospital today – everyone gave her food. She got enough chicken alone to make a meal, enough dog treats for a full meal, and a full meal when we got home, too. Luckily, we burn off a lot of calories while we are there. No one ever offers me anything – and I am good with that.
I love the Buckles’ haiku. I keep hoping the cartoonist will publish a book of all the haiku. I missed out on all these early ones. I’m not sure I’ll live long enough to catch up to #65, which is the first one I discovered.

I said it before, he’s a watchdog and he’s winding himself up.

My dog never chased his tail to settle down in the bed. Only when it seemed to annoy him.
