We had one cat who, oddly enough, only liked what was the cheapest brand on the shelf. Sure, we got him that kind. Then the store quit carrying it. I heard my mom explaining this to cat one day as she put his food down “I’m sorry Mittens. They don’t have the cheap one anymore. I got you something more expensive. Will you eat that?”
