Guitar Bob leads the crowd in a rousing rendition. At 12:01, Andy tosses him out the door. At 12:01:02, Flo drags Andy home!!

I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve copied and pasted the lyrics to the traditional song Old Lang Syne. It was written by Robert Burns in 1741. The song was first published in 1796 after Burns’ death. “Auld Lang Syne” literally means “old long ago,” or simply, “the good old days.”

Auld Lang Syne by Robert Burns

Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet For auld lang syneWe twa hae run aboot the braes And pou’d the gowans fine; we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot Sin’ auld lang syne

We two hae paidled i’ the burn, Frae mornin’ sun till dine; But seas between us braid hae roar’d Sin’ auld lang syne

And here’s a hand, my trusty friend, And gie’s a hand o’ thine; We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet For auld lang syneShould auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet For auld lang syne

    Happy New Year everyone.

Andy does have the brain to resolve anything. You, the wife, enable him to be a bum. You, barkeep, enable him to be a drunk. The wife and barkeep need to make a resolution.

Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind?Should old acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne?

    Chorus:

For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne,we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,for auld lang syne.

And surely you’ll buy your pint cup!and surely I’ll buy mine! And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,for auld lang syne.

    Chorus

We two have run about the hills, and picked the daisies fine; But we’ve wandered many a weary foot, since auld lang syne.

    Chorus

We two have paddled in the stream, from morning sun till dine; But seas between us broad have roaredsince auld lang syne.

    Chorus

    And there’s a hand my trusty friend!And give me a hand o’ thine!And we’ll take a right good-will draught,for auld lang syne.

    Chorus

Andy should emulate Snuffy Smith and make five resolutions with the fifth being to break the first four. (Barney Google and Snuffy Smith on Comics Kingdon 12/31/23).

    Should old acquaintance be forgot

    and never brought to mind?

    Should old acquaintance be forgot

    and old lang syne?

[Chorus – this part repeats after every verse]

For auld lang syne, my dear

    for auld lang syne

we’ll take a cup of kindness yet

    for auld lang syne.

And surely you’ll buy your pint cup

    and surely I’ll buy mine

And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet

    for auld lang syne.

We two have run about the slopes

    and picked the daisies fine;

But we’ve wandered many a weary foot

    since auld lang syne.

We two have paddled in the stream

    from morning sun till dine

But seas between us broad have roared

    since auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand my trusty friend

And give me a hand o’ thine

And we’ll take a right goodwill draught

    for auld lang syne
