That would make grampa probably around 73 or so because it was the same for me – at least when I was probably the kids’ age. Later, into my early teens we got a second phone. It was a princess phone. I wonder what the kid would think if someone tried to explain a party line to him.
When I was that age we didn’t even have a phone. That came a few years later.. a party line where everyone had a distinct ring.. two shorts and a long was ours. There were no secret phone calls.
