Two main choices there hot shot if you don’t like it. Either stop ignoring them or eat cold dinner. There are other options of course, starting with surgical removal of the electronic devices from your hands and cutting the power cable off your gaming console…

Just flip the switch on the router, he’ll come on the run to see what happened to the internet.

Reheating IS what microwave ovens are excellent for when gamers don’t want cold food.

Looks like you’re going to actually have to pay attention to the world around you, dear, or you’re going to be eating a lot of cold food or even wind up going hungry. You’re old enough to start tuning in.

I used to holler at my kids to come to dinner…but one day, I just sat with my wife, we ate, and when the kids finally came down, and most of the food was gone, I told them that if they didn’t want me to eat it all, they need to get down here before I do.

Thank my kids for this one. One’s out the door now, but the other is still wearing headphones. Better at checking in earlier now. Poor thing. Night Owl child of two morning people.

Mine is a night owl child with one morning parent and one night owl parent (me) The kid’s not really a kid anymore, and he’s not playing games, he’s creating them — so we never know when it is appropriate to poke our heads into his room. (last time I tried that he was in a meeting with an executive producer.) We programed the Nest and now I just shout Hey Gxxgle, dinner is ready. If he hears it, he comes. If not, he knows how to fix his own food.

“But this way doesn’t work!” OH YES, yes it does. AND it’s satisfying! Back when my son was a young driver and he complained about being asked to call if he was going to be home later than expected I explained to him that this was not a “kid” thing, that this is what adults do out of consideration for one another. Never had a problem after that. Good kid.
