Actually, they’ve come closer: on our microwave, the top left button is for popcorn. But since we found a good air popper, we never use the microwave for popcorn.
Soon, a pour in the top and drop into a bowl model. ‘As seen on TV’! This year’s must have appliance! In festive colors for the holidays! Collect them all!
Then… new and improved with butter melting pad built in!
I love popcorn but hate microwave popcorn. I use a “Whirley Pop” popper, buy “Amish Country” popcorn (purple is best), and cook it in peanut oil with Flavacol seasoning. It doesn’t take much longer than in a microwave but it is so much better tasting.

Real popcorn is cooked in a kettle, sold and consumed at the movie theatre.

Our old microwave did have a popcorn button and it worked very well.

Yummy! popcorn! Decades ago, an air popper came on the market so I got one. It was awful…the popcorn tasted like styrofoam. LOL! ☺️

I have three settings. Soup, baked potato, and who cares.
