Gunsmoke reruns are on at noon Central on ME-TV, six days a week. I watch everyday while having lunch.
They’re currently going through the excellent one-hour black and white period with Burt Reynolds spending a couple years in Dodge, oozing that charisma and easygoing comic chops that would make him a top box-office draw in Hollywood about 15 years hence.

Apologies to the young Skeezix fans out there as a long evening nap left me just enough time before ‘deadline’ to rush through a three-handed classics update for the 19th:
Hipshot marks Christmas Day in his own way, and does his part to help the unfortunate. It’s not like there’s much business goin’ on for Hip while everyone is in such a forgiving mood.
The Big Stare reaches Congress, and things aren’t all that different in 1949 than they are in 2024, at least IMO. One brainiac appears to have found a compromise to put matters to a great national referendum – winner take all?
Slim inadvertantly proposes to Clovia, but hey… he’ll go with it now that the subject is on the table. His intended? She has some pretty strong thoughts as well.
Baleen doesn’t know that fat slob is addicted to IV—even brought one along on a camping trip, along with a sackful of batteries to power it (this was long before iPhones)!!
There was a diner near me, the cook wore stained white pants, a plain white tee shirt, a filthy apron and had an anchor tattoo on his forearm, like Lou where Dagwood Bumsted eats lunch. Right from “central casting.” Best diner ever.
How does she figure that Slim staying home and watching Gunsmoke is the reason he got a love note? Although typical of the writing in this strip, it makes no sense.
