If a dog is not a good eater, there is probably some illness involved…..

That was a little ruff.

1st panel, not with that empty food dish. I like Buckles expression in last panel.

Paul, be thankful Buckles doesn’t use the throw the bowl at your head approach

When his stomach is growling, Buckles starts howling!

Paul shouldn’t leave his classical literature books lying open so much.

A full food bowl is good for the soul,

an empty dish leads to a wish.

Happiness abounds and makes the round

When feeding the family hound.

(Yeah, I know it’s bad)

I remember the “To eat or not to eat” line was also used in a VeggieTales segment that parodied “Hamlet”, but it was known as “Omelet”, if anybody remembers that one.

Ah the eager eater; my dog has never met an eager he would not or could not eat.
