Just curious — does a Lab ever walk away from food? That ’fridge is loaded. Would Louie try to eat it all in one sitting? (My Louie was a Lab, but he had a severe digestive condition, and I had to follow a strict feeding regimen.)
Years ago refrigerators had lever handles. One of my husband’s roommates had a lab that figured out how to open theirs. They had to put a hasp and padlock on it. They really did not care until the dog started taking the beer out, puncturing the can and drinking it.
Yes they do, silverclaw. Some, in more ways than one.
A true short story – I live in a rural area where most of us don’t have fences. My neighbor has chickens and she lets them free-range now and then. One day I went outside with my dog, Louie-the-Lab, not realizing the chickens were roaming free. Lou headed over in that direction, and by the time I got there, he was walking nonchalantly in the middle of all the hens. The rooster was having a fit. The way he saw it, his girls were in mortal danger. He had already gone into his fighting stance and kept threatening to attack Lou, but fortunately decided that discretion was the better part of valor. He smoothed his ruffled feathers and rejoined the flock. The hens continued pecking at the ground, and the rooster, realizing Louie was not a threat, joined them in a quick pastoral sketch of utter peace. It was a lovely moment in time.
Probably, Joan. That’s bad enough but what really gets to me is when they decide to clean it up themselves. I really have a weak stomach {retch}. But despite that, I hope you have a great day and are not freezing or getting drowned or anything like that – {smile}. Best Regards, Ginnie
