Marlee was one of the few earthbound star sightings I had when I lived in Southern California (at my favorite Japanese restaurant called Sakura in La Cañada Flintridge). Her table was near ours, but we didn’t interrupt her meal. I know I’d hate it if someone got between me and my sushi!
Of course “deaf star” is correct, but before I read that in the comments, I thought the joke had something to do with “Star Tours,” which is a name of one of those sightseeing buses in Hollywood, as well as the name of the first Star Wars ride at Disneyland.

For those who don’t get it, Matlin is deaf and starred in West Wind, Switched at Birth and other things. R2D2 must have heard it wrong as “deaf star.”

Tour bus passes a group of geeks engaged in Star Wars cosplay. The bus driver is unprepared for this and resorts to his script. Hahaha

Apparently Marlee isn’t the only one with a hearing problem in this strip.

This is one of the few Hilburn strips in which it’s up to the reader to supply the pun.
