Well, indoor cats live twice as long for some reason.
I like to let my cat wander outside, though. Unfortunately, since I live in an apartment on the second floor, she doesn’t have easy access to the entrance, so she’s pretty much confined to the terrace for going outside.
Whenever I visit my hometown, though, she’s free to wander the fields and streets to her heart’s content.
The best life is the indoor/outdoor cat. Mine accompanies me on walks, chases gophers when I go into town, sleeps on the roof in the daytime and safe on the top of a dresser at night.
I have three cats. One is exclusively outdoor, as he hates humans 99% of the time, one is indoor/outdoor, because he gets grumpy if he isn’t aloud outside, and only likes to poop in the woods, and one is exclusively indoor because he’s scared of everything.

They may cross paths some day; it would be nice if the outdoor cat found a nice home.

“They seek him here, they seek him there.
Upon the couch, then on the chair.
He will scratch your curtains if you do not feed him now
He’s a dedicated wallower on cushions.”

Outdoor cats may have exciting lives, but indoor cats generally have longer ones…
