Weird “pickling” fact: In the UK a game called “conkers” is played with horse chestnuts. You try to break the opponent’s chestnut with your chestnut. There is a tradition of soaking your “conker” in vinegar to make it tougher and harder to break. Many conker associations forbid artificial hardening of the conker.
