Rats, that’s me. Stood in front of the Allergy boxes at the Drug Store. Couldn’t remember the name of the stuff I’ve taken for 10 years. Sigh.

I hate senior moments! But I’m at the age for them, Adam isn’t. He’s too young for them.

Laura, don’t let him take the car in for service. I mean do you know how much it costs to repair a doohickey when it interferes with the whatcamacallit?

Sorry, but my late mother suffered from Alzheimer’s and I find nothing funny about it.

An elderly man is visiting his elderly friend. He asks, “what’s that new bush out front?” His host says “what’s that flower with the thorns and nice smell?” “A rose?”

“Yeah.” He turns and yells, “Hey Rose! What’s that new bush out front?”

A 77 this happens to me, but the other thing is time. The past lacks an awareness of time. I recall an event, but unless I know something about the date, I really don’t know when it happened.

    Pointy clicky thing? His mouse?

Mine recharges every three or four months for twenty minutes with a lightning cable I plug in its belly. It’s very cute.

When my Dad was in his 80s and I would ask him how he was, he’d say "I’m only at the “z” in Alzheimers!" That was his way of saying, I forget stuff but it’s not bad yet. He lived to be 90 and never got past that “z.”

My whole family does this constantly. We call it “losing nouns”.

I had days like that too. I worry about the memory issues as well. Everytime I learn something new I tend to forget about old things until I look it up. Any tips on how to prevent that sort of thing?

My mom turned 95 today. We all visited her yesterday for a birthday party.

Her memory seems great. Oddly it is the things I did as a child which made trouble – which was rarely – which she does not seem to remember. (I am the eldest child of 3.)

Example – She does not remember the day I went home with a girl from around the corner without telling her. The girl had come up to me at lunch time and told me that my mom called the school, she would not be home, and I should go home with this friend until later. Turned out that the girl had made this up so I would come and play with her. Boy did I get in trouble for listening to her – one of two times in my life I was hit by a parent – as mom was frantic not knowing where I was. She does not remember this at all.

Mom and her dad are-were the only 2 family members on either side who are-were long lived. I have already, at 70, lived longer than my dad, my other 3 grandparents, all 3 of my uncles, and a cousin who was about 15 years younger than me. I am hoping that while I tend towards my dad’s family that in this case I will tend towards mom’s.
