âIt was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly, a shot rang out! A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly, a pirate ship appeared on the horizon! While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.â
Okay, then how about âCall me Ismael. Back before switches and technology and the stars were formed. A huge nebulous material with glowing eye-like orbs stared out over the complete nothing. Let there be light came the command and the rest was a history of arguments, divisiveness, and a creature called man that spent its short lifespan arguing about who was right and wrong in their greed and struggle for power over one another wrongly thinking that that was what their existence was supposed to be. And down through time that exists for the sake of sanity, nothing has changed really. The Endâ Sorry, a sad but mostly true tale of woe with very short intermittent times of illusional peace.
âThe Nellie, a cruising yawl, swung to her anchor without a flutter of the sails, and was at rest. The flood had made, the wind was nearly calm, and being bound down the river, the only thing for it was to come to and wait for the turn of the tide.
âMarlow ceased, and sat apart, indistinct and silent, in the pose of a meditating Buddha. Nobody moved for a time. âWe have lost the first of the ebb,â said the Director suddenly. I raised my head. The offing was barred by a black bank of clouds, and the tranquil waterway leading to the uttermost ends of the earth flowed sombre under an overcast skyâseemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness.â
the way the drawings are outlined reminds me of the India ink scratching we did in 4th grade. We made the paper by making a variety of coloured blobs on a paper, covering them with India ink and then scratching a picture in it when it dried.

I like how the outline was drawn so you can still make out the characters

I love this effect, Greg, of drawing in the dark.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done. THE END
