one of our farmer acquaintances a long while back, an older woman who took a traditional approach to farming, kept repeating the same mantra to us: after it rains, ortran. if memory serves, “ortran” is called “ortho” elsewhere. every time it rained, she’d douse her tomatoes with a really foul-smelling spray. we never ate her tomatoes… ☺
