Good morning, ALL!Carmy, thanks for breakfast! Iāll have scrambled eggs and sausage wrapped up in a flour tortilla, and some English breakfast tea. Iāll take that to go, and say āgoodnightā now.
Good Morning All. Can you believe this is the first opportunity that I have had to post since yesterday morning. I have been working and entertaining all day and night long. Some of our guests just left and the rest are getting ready for bed. I can not go to bed after such a social overload. I need to just sit down, have a cocktail and wind down. Which is what I am doing now.
Hi Grog. I am sitting here with a snifter of brandy and awaiting the onset of slumber. I donāt think that you can classify a sleep as a snooze if it lasts for 5 hours. LOL
You must have been tired.
Not really. Just making my posts while watching 3ās Company, Iāll probably be done in a little over an hour, then Iāll be ready to shut my eyes again.
CARMY Iāll just take a Pirate and a Nuclear coffee please. I have to go back to bed to recover from my double session I had with the shrink yesterday after being beat up by you and LUVH8 in Birdbrains. No, a lobotomy is not in the near future, but he increased my meds. Does āAs neededā mean I should refill the āscript before I open the bottle?
Morning TRIBE! I think Wink should join a book club instead.
Good Morning All. Another busy day today. Everyone except for LilG and I are still in bed, after a late night, but will be rising soon, so I probably will be scarce again today.
I just had a web black out. We were supposed to have a nice week-end, but a storm is rolling through the area. I got my errands done, but the rest of my morning plans are scrapped as I was going to apply some anti fungus product to my lawn.
I was only able to skim a bit, but I caught the well-wishes for Stormy. I thank you and she says mrroooooww
Sheās not getting better but I didnāt expect that. The anti-nausea drug seems to help the most. Ohhh though she hates the medicine. The first time my hubby held her for dosing she fought. She doesnāt fight it now, like she knows it is making her feel more comfortable but ohhhhh I wish you could see her face and the way she does that āyuck eeech phoie motions with her mouth and tongue. Hubby boils her chicken breasts, which she has been eating somewhat better than her regular food.
As for the rest of my real life, I am officially on probation now at work, called PIP of all things, Personal Improvement Plan I have already shown improvement in most of the areas, my supervisor hated to do it, but it has to go in my file. Sigh At least itās not a writeup on my temperā¦..and itās only 60 days i/o the usual 90. So long as they donāt dump New York calls on us, or have us go back to bookings via phone Iāll be just fine.
I hope everyone is doing well and having fun. Weāre celebrating our 33rd anniversary with Alice in Wonderland and dinner at Outback Steakhouse.
Hi, tribe!
Canāt stay real long, but waiting on my hubby to wake up from his ābeautyā sleep. Actually, the poor guy has been working so hard, and with having to be at work at 6am, he doesnāt get enough sleep during the week. Saturdays are the only day he can try to catch up on his sleep.
Just got back from a funeral for a church member - 97 years young he was. His daughter has spent her life literallly taking care of her parents - sheās in her 70s, never married, always at home. Saw her face as she was coming out after the funeral. She is absolutely devastated. I started to cry when I saw her. I mean - she finally can call her life her own and sheās in her 70s? Bless her - I hope she can cope.
celecca - Good to see you too!
Not that anyone wants his parents to die young, but there is a certain liberating sense when they do pass on. Having lost my mom (85) this fall, and my dad (82) a few years ago, of course I miss them, but Iām looking forward to the freedom to not have to consider them in my plans. I can move further away, I can celebrate Motherās Day the way I want, we can do holidays where & how we wish (hubbyās parents are in FL, so havenāt impacted our plans as often), etc.
Rmom
Yeah - I know what you mean. When pastor and I were discussing what the daughter was going to do, I suggested that he congregation buy her a cruise ticket in about 6 months. She deserves it.
I was not blessed with kids (and at 50, if it happens, it would be a miracle for the Lutheran Church!) but I appreciated my parents more the older I got and the more mistakes I made. Iām blessed with a brother and sister who are parents and they are much closer to Mom & Dad that I will ever be because of that shared bond of parenthood.
Sorry, Shika, had to get some work done. School is going well, but I have been really busy. How has life been treating you?
Iāll have to catch the answer later as I am off to work.
Is it just me, or does BT have a revolving door? LOL!
Hi! Bye! Hi! Bye!
Hi DRY!!
Bye johnny!
Hi celecca!
HAPPY 33RD ANNIVERSARY QUABY! Sounds like it will be a lovely day for you.
PIP! I hated those. I had them given to me too. Happens to us all, depending on the style of management and the bigwigs in HO!
Oh dear. I thought I was over that, LOL! Glad Iām out of a toxic work environment and now I am doing what I love, assuming thereās work for me when I finish school.
((Shika)) My mom said that a lot: āThis too, shall pass.ā
Iām thinking the same thing about my after-homeschooling career. I donāt think Iām up to working full-time like I did before kids came along. Thankfully, my hubby isnāt expecting me to, although we both agree I probably need to do something to bring in some extra money, once I have some spare time available.
he serena
bye serena
yes, they are, and itās a good thing we have one here in the Big Top. makes it easier to fly by while doing puzzles and reading other strips.
Happy Anniversary to Quaby & hubby
iām going to a birthday party tomorrow for my B-i-L.
right now, itās 3:47 (EDT) and i must take my leave. fans of the original āthe Day the Earth Stood Stillā or the late 70ās band Klaatu can make what you will of the time. i have a poker game tonight. [but i go mainly for the food and the sociability. much the same reasons i come here.]
(((Tribe)))
GrogNo I haveenāt been I do buy the store bought that has that in it. What brand do you buy, Iād be curious to see if any of our brands are down your way.
Dry, the brand I usually buy is Mezzetta. The product is āHot Cauliflowerā. Amomg the ingredients of course are cauliflower (obviously) and peppers. What they donāt say is that it includes jalapeno peppers and red bell peppers.
Doc Got a couple of totally spurious questions - do grocers believe that short people exist? And if they do, why arenāt there footstools in the aisles so short people can reach the top shelf items they need?
Iām back from the movie. Alice in Wonderland was good. Johnny Depp was amazing IMHOā¦though Iām sure a lot of that final dance was helped by CGI. And his eyes, WOW, they were something. The White Queen, though, didnāt seem to be able to put her hands down, they were almost always at shoulder level. IT like to drove me nuts.
Celecca We donāt talk religion here, but I gotta say it. A FELLOW LUTHERAN!!! Have you heard what Lutherans think of change?? āChange? CHANGEā āWhatās going to change!ā āI prefer the green book.ā āI like the red book better.ā āBring back the blue book!!!!ā At least the cranberry book (the gasp new one) brought back the great Bach hymns.
Shika thanks for the encouragement about being in PIP. What annoys me most (and my supervisor sticks up for me) is the higher echelon thinks I was in Imports 1 month, maybe 6 weeks tops. It was 5.5 months! I wasnāt even in training anymore. I was handling my own ships, issuing my own invoices for charges, etc, etc without having to ask or be shown every little step. Sure, there were some things I needed help with, but I had the everyday basics down. After that calm pace I was dumped back in Exports because bookings had exploded and we were having to take New York rollover calls. Excuse meā¦when 60-75% of my queue calls are NYC, NYC is putting themselves on ānot readyā and dumping on us. It was also 6 people handling the overflow for 15 people. Not to mention phone-in bookings. Once that stopped things got better, but they expected 100% improvement the next day. It aināt gonna happen that fast, guys (and my supervisor understood). Anyway, so long as they donāt much up with my duties I will be just fine.
Gotta get to the kitchen. Hope everyone else is ok. Thereās leftover prime rib, Aussie Fries, bloominā onion and some carrot cake in the BT fridge. Help yourselves.
Doc That is a very good question. They should have some shopping carts lower but longer and put a stool underneath that they can pull out when needed. Even having just one per store, mebbe at the customer service counter, would be good. I feel for them when I see them climbing and jumping on TV.
Doc, the Mezzetta products are all stored at a reachable levels in all the stores Iāve been to down here. I donāt think thereās much I buy thatās top shelf. Fortunately though, I am average height, if that ever did happen.
celecca, Iāve had height-challenged people ask me if I can get their product for them. Of course, I will gladly help them. Hopefully, if Iām having back problems at any time, the favor will be returned on bottom shelf items.
Dry, I have nothing against Jalapenos. But I use them more in cooking though, rather than eating them raw.
There is a cajun stuffed pork chop that calls for - among other things - green chiles. However I will substitute jalapenos, because I have a jar of pickled diced jalapenos on hand. I often like to top my burgers and dogs with them on those rare occasions when I have burgers or dogs.
Fellow Martinians, past and present Peace be wth you!
The cranberry isnāt so bad. But I miss the liturgy from the one I grew up with - which was BURGANDY! (Pre-ELCA)
Quaby - Alice in 3-D or regular? I really want to see it, but am worried about the the sense of movement. And Happy 33rd Aniversary!
re: grocery I do ask people to help, I have to. Usually though itās the fellow shoppers who are willing to help. I understand about the liability though. Told you it was a spurious question!
I think Iām having some trouble with my eyes today - I read a TV listing as Hamster Yoga (should have been Namaste) and I just read that Grog was fixing coached pod for dinner.
Hi everyone. Sorry that I couldnāt come on earlier. Thing is My dad and I have been busy with the Spring cleaning, and today we decided to shampoo the carpeted floor in our house. After that I decided to go out and have fun with some friends of mine, knowing that it would take about four hours or so for the floor to dry.
Hello Dry, Grog, Doc, Quaby and Celecca!Quaby, congrats on your anniversary and hugs for (((((Stormy)))))
Iām 5 foot 5 and Iāve helped my fellow shoppers retrieve items from the top shelf. Using something from your own cart, like a roll of tin foil, works pretty well.
*No Grog! I take back calling you a āsissyā! LOL!
I often have to climb on the bottom shelf at the grocery store to reach an item on the top shelf because no ONE is around. And the reason is usually because they didnāt re-stock the shelf and what I want is clear in the back!
Doc at my local store, Iām sure its ādefaceā the store. The way they slash open to cartons with their machetes, all the products are oozing their guts.
I just noticed that my bag of oatmeal was slashed at the bottom. No wonder Mua keeps licking the floor.
Quaby I meant to post this some time ago, congratulations on your anniversary. Seems today most marriages donāt last that long! And my heartfelt sympathy on Stormy. My last cat, before these,my sweet little Hannah Bee lived to be 16 years and passed 4 days before her 17th birthday..
Hi Carmy! Yes those rolls of plastic wrap, foil, etc. work well, if you have them in the cart at the time. Our stores are laid out that those are the last couple of rows, and usually what Iām reaching for is before that.
Hey Doc tell me something, why are the fruits, produce, bacon, and deli items at the beginning of the store? Until you get to the end of the store, they can be in your cart for awhile sometimes.
I know the layout by heart, but itās so big I donāt feel like running back and forth, and usually donāt have the time to do that, so I live with it, but always found it curious why they do that!
In addition to knowing the layout, speed shopping can also help, especially when you forget to pick up an item or two on your list or remember something you need thatās not on your list but at the other end of the store.
That usually only works in the early morning hours, when I do my shopping. I like to get out as fast as I got in.
Alice wasnāt in 3-D, my glasses are very thick and canāt see anything without them. I did have the headphones, though, so I can hear the soft bits as well as the LOUD BITS.
End of Timeā is on, getting ready for the next Doctor. I love it, it show the Doctor soā¦ā¦human*. He doesnāt want to regenerate because he wonāt b the same, and for all that he as and wants to do that is the same as dying.
Dry,I think you warned me back when I made the change to Grog that you might make a typo. I did not expect the Good Doctor to make the make the first booboo!
Grog, you shop like I do. I like to be quick too. If by chance I forget something, I abandon my cart and go back and get what I missed. Itās faster that way. zooooommm!
Carmy, as a guy, shopping is not a pleasure, but a necessity. No matter whatās on the list or where itās to be bought, I know what I want and where I want it.
If I could, I would do all my shopping on the internet
Grog, if and when my husband goes with me shopping, he buys whatever he sees. He goes down the aisles saying, donāt we need this?He also thinks that everything costs about 50 cents. So I go solo and thatās fine with me.
I take youāre the one who deals with the family finances, Carmy.
My dad was the bill payer in the family and he went with mom to do the shopping when the situation allowed. He always checked the receipts for errors, too.
I, too, can be stingy when it matters, but I will pay more for the perceived quality on durable goods.
Doc - It would be nice if the stores had those grabby arm thingys handy for shorter people to use. Of course, to keep them from disappearing, theyād probably have to have them on a long retractable cord or something. I wish they didnāt have such deep shelves, although I understand the reason for it. When the store hasnāt been āfacedā for a while, I find myself up to my armpit trying to reach something. Sometimes my arm isnāt long enough, and I have to ask for help. I also will ask a fellow customer to help me, if an employee isnāt handy.
LOL, Shika!Grog, you are correct. I do take care of the finances. Itās not that Iām stingy, I just donāt see the need of buying something just for the sake of having it.
I am often mistaken for someone else in my former company. Our names are not at all the same, but if you exchange each of our first names for a part of our last names, then I end up with his e-mail and he will end up with mine. That finally stopped when we severed the ties with my former company but it was a real P.I.T.A.
Grog, I still get stunned when I go to the store for a few things and the total is quite higher than I expected. I always think, ābut I barely bought anything!ā
Shika, you better stop that right now! How did you know that one of my childhood nicknames was āCornyā?
Grog, I buy for a family of 6! We do get a break on being able to shop at the military grocery store. The prices are much less than the regular stores. We also donāt have to pay taxes on items that are normally taxable.
About 15 Years ago when I was still working in Montreal, the plant Controller from our Millhaven plant knick-named me P.I.T.A, - which was a lot better than my predecessor ās. His knick-name was F.U.B.B.
Grog, I went on the base to rent a car. The lady helping me was walking me to the car and told me it was in B.F.E. Iām looking around because all the buildings have letters and or numbers on them. She started to explain about the same time I figured it out. Duh!
Carmy, I just have to make sure that I take my Nexium! I donāt eat stuff like that all the time any more.
In my younger days, we used to have contents to see who could make the spiciest Bloody Caesars. Without even asking, the waitress brought the bottle of tobasco to our table. I used to win those contests, by the way.
If cleo wasnāt busy with guests, heād be popping in about now to tell us what he had for dinner to make me go running for the snacks - but with the food talk starting to pick up, that may happen with - or without cleo
Carmy, I admit to being young & foolish at one time, which is why I have some of the health problems I have now. Now I tend to spice more for flavor than heat. But I still like the green tabasco on my scrambled eggs.
I am watching a TCM movie called Ship of Fools. Itās a ship headed toward Germany with passengers having much of attitudes prevalent in 1933 Germany. Very interesting so far.
Grog, Arsenic and Old Lace is next. Iām going to label the tape. Iām always forgetting whatās on there. I know I have Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer, The Bishopās Wife and maybe more.
I wish I had some of The Thin Man movies.
Carmy, I have the Thin Man movies on tape, but Iād like to upgrade to the DVD collection.
I have the Bachelor & the Bobby Soxer on tape and The Bishopās Wife on DVD, but I consider the latter a Christmas movie and will watch it during that season.

Hi! Bye! Hi! Bye!
Hi DRY!!
Bye johnny!
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
And assuming I am well enough to work too. I couldnāt work full time now, despite appearances. I need to sleep too often.
Sigh. This to shall pass.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
((Shika)) My mom said that a lot: āThis too, shall pass.ā Iām thinking the same thing about my after-homeschooling career. I donāt think Iām up to working full-time like I did before kids came along. Thankfully, my hubby isnāt expecting me to, although we both agree I probably need to do something to bring in some extra money, once I have some spare time available.

Hi yyyguy, serena, Rmom, Shika, FELLOW BABY & everyone else!
Happy 33rd, Quaby! yyyguy, one of my favorite SCI-FIās! Dry, the mixture is mixed and the cauliflower is now cooling. Thanks, again, for the recipe.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Fellow Baby I hope you like it!* How much hot sauce/tabasco did you use?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
A table spoon, Dry. By about this time tomorrow afternoon, Iāll be having it as an appetizer with a Bloody Caesar.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry, I have just finished off a store-bought version. Have you tried adding a little red bell pepper to it?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
GrogNo I haveenāt been I do buy the store bought that has that in it. What brand do you buy, Iād be curious to see if any of our brands are down your way.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry, the brand I usually buy is Mezzetta. The product is āHot Cauliflowerā. Amomg the ingredients of course are cauliflower (obviously) and peppers. What they donāt say is that it includes jalapeno peppers and red bell peppers.
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
Doc Got a couple of totally spurious questions - do grocers believe that short people exist? And if they do, why arenāt there footstools in the aisles so short people can reach the top shelf items they need?
Quabaculta almost 15 years ago
Quabaculta almost 15 years ago
Doc That is a very good question. They should have some shopping carts lower but longer and put a stool underneath that they can pull out when needed. Even having just one per store, mebbe at the customer service counter, would be good. I feel for them when I see them climbing and jumping on TV.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Grog yes we have Marzetti here. What you donāt like jalapenos? Yaā big sissy! :-D
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hello, Doctor Toon, celecca & Quaby
Doc, the Mezzetta products are all stored at a reachable levels in all the stores Iāve been to down here. I donāt think thereās much I buy thatās top shelf. Fortunately though, I am average height, if that ever did happen.
celecca, Iāve had height-challenged people ask me if I can get their product for them. Of course, I will gladly help them. Hopefully, if Iām having back problems at any time, the favor will be returned on bottom shelf items.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Dry, I have nothing against Jalapenos. But I use them more in cooking though, rather than eating them raw.
There is a cajun stuffed pork chop that calls for - among other things - green chiles. However I will substitute jalapenos, because I have a jar of pickled diced jalapenos on hand. I often like to top my burgers and dogs with them on those rare occasions when I have burgers or dogs.
So is that being sissy? :^{)

Iām of to start prepping supper for tonight tonight. Iām doing a poached cod.
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
Fellow Martinians, past and present Peace be wth you!
The cranberry isnāt so bad. But I miss the liturgy from the one I grew up with - which was BURGANDY! (Pre-ELCA)
Quaby - Alice in 3-D or regular? I really want to see it, but am worried about the the sense of movement. And Happy 33rd Aniversary!
re: grocery I do ask people to help, I have to. Usually though itās the fellow shoppers who are willing to help. I understand about the liability though. Told you it was a spurious question!
Hey Grog
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
I think Iām having some trouble with my eyes today - I read a TV listing as Hamster Yoga (should have been Namaste) and I just read that Grog was fixing coached pod for dinner.

Hi everyone. Sorry that I couldnāt come on earlier. Thing is My dad and I have been busy with the Spring cleaning, and today we decided to shampoo the carpeted floor in our house. After that I decided to go out and have fun with some friends of mine, knowing that it would take about four hours or so for the floor to dry.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hello Dry, Grog, Doc, Quaby and Celecca! Quaby, congrats on your anniversary and hugs for (((((Stormy))))) Iām 5 foot 5 and Iāve helped my fellow shoppers retrieve items from the top shelf. Using something from your own cart, like a roll of tin foil, works pretty well.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
*No Grog! I take back calling you a āsissyā! LOL!
I often have to climb on the bottom shelf at the grocery store to reach an item on the top shelf because no ONE is around. And the reason is usually because they didnāt re-stock the shelf and what I want is clear in the back!
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
Isnāt it funny how we mimic our elders until we have some life under our belt? Then later we echo them sometimes without realizing it?
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Iāve always been afraid that if I step on a lower shelf, I will get crushed when it falls over.
So I look for tall handsome men and just bat my eyelashes.
That always makes them run to get a stock person for me. LOL!

Doc at my local store, Iām sure its ādefaceā the store. The way they slash open to cartons with their machetes, all the products are oozing their guts.
I just noticed that my bag of oatmeal was slashed at the bottom. No wonder Mua keeps licking the floor.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Quaby I meant to post this some time ago, congratulations on your anniversary. Seems today most marriages donāt last that long! And my heartfelt sympathy on Stormy. My last cat, before these,my sweet little Hannah Bee lived to be 16 years and passed 4 days before her 17th birthday..
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I forgot to say
HI TRIBE!Need to put a bell on that revolving door! lol
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Carmy! Yes those rolls of plastic wrap, foil, etc. work well, if you have them in the cart at the time. Our stores are laid out that those are the last couple of rows, and usually what Iām reaching for is before that.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
LOL Dry! Yes, same here.
But then, how many rolls can one buy? Surely not everytime we shop!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hey Doc tell me something, why are the fruits, produce, bacon, and deli items at the beginning of the store? Until you get to the end of the store, they can be in your cart for awhile sometimes.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Doc You havae to run a looong way to help me! If I bat my eye lashes, will you feel the breeze where you live? LOL
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
And if you start at the opposite end, you have your milk, ice cream, yogurts, eggs, frozen items, and so on in the cart the same length of time.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi Shika! Dry, a box of spaghetti or something like that will work well too. Whatever is handy is my motto. LOL
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I guess I need to get back to work. My typing is slipping, so it will be a long night.

Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Shika here.
Dry I save my perishables until last. But that only works when you know the layout of the store. Sometimes, I goof up.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi Carmy
Bye Carmy, Dry, Doc and whoever is left in the produce aisle.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Bye Shika, see you later! I think a lot of stores are laid out that way. I usually get the frozen items last and then itās off to the check out.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I know the layout by heart, but itās so big I donāt feel like running back and forth, and usually donāt have the time to do that, so I live with it, but always found it curious why they do that!
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
Good afternoon all!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hi, Carmy
In addition to knowing the layout, speed shopping can also help, especially when you forget to pick up an item or two on your list or remember something you need thatās not on your list but at the other end of the store.
That usually only works in the early morning hours, when I do my shopping. I like to get out as fast as I got in.
The dinner bell sounds. BBL
Quabaculta almost 15 years ago
Alice wasnāt in 3-D, my glasses are very thick and canāt see anything without them. I did have the headphones, though, so I can hear the soft bits as well as the LOUD BITS.
End of Timeā is on, getting ready for the next Doctor. I love it, it show the Doctor soā¦ā¦human*. He doesnāt want to regenerate because he wonāt b the same, and for all that he as and wants to do that is the same as dying.

carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, you shop like I do. I like to be quick too. If by chance I forget something, I abandon my cart and go back and get what I missed. Itās faster that way. zooooommm!
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Hi, Gog! - Wait a minute, are you Gog of Magog from the Bible?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy, as a guy, shopping is not a pleasure, but a necessity. No matter whatās on the list or where itās to be bought, I know what I want and where I want it.
If I could, I would do all my shopping on the internet
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Even worse, Rmom. My name is taken from a character on the B.C. cartoon strip.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, if and when my husband goes with me shopping, he buys whatever he sees. He goes down the aisles saying, donāt we need this?He also thinks that everything costs about 50 cents. So I go solo and thatās fine with me.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
You mean you arenāt a Pirateās drink?
Gorg is one typo you forgot Doc. Itās for the dyslexic in me.
Everyone should try it.

carmy almost 15 years ago
Are you leaving already, mooShika?
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
ymrac Not yet. Iām lost. I think I can out the way I came in, or vice versa.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I take youāre the one who deals with the family finances, Carmy.
My dad was the bill payer in the family and he went with mom to do the shopping when the situation allowed. He always checked the receipts for errors, too.
I, too, can be stingy when it matters, but I will pay more for the perceived quality on durable goods.
Shikamoo Premium Member almost 15 years ago
And Iām dizzy. I can not type.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Doc - It would be nice if the stores had those grabby arm thingys handy for shorter people to use. Of course, to keep them from disappearing, theyād probably have to have them on a long retractable cord or something. I wish they didnāt have such deep shelves, although I understand the reason for it. When the store hasnāt been āfacedā for a while, I find myself up to my armpit trying to reach something. Sometimes my arm isnāt long enough, and I have to ask for help. I also will ask a fellow customer to help me, if an employee isnāt handy.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
See you later, mooShika!

GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I am often mistaken for someone else in my former company. Our names are not at all the same, but if you exchange each of our first names for a part of our last names, then I end up with his e-mail and he will end up with mine. That finally stopped when we severed the ties with my former company but it was a real P.I.T.A.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, I still get stunned when I go to the store for a few things and the total is quite higher than I expected. I always think, ābut I barely bought anything!ā

Whereās that revolving door? I canāt find my essay!
Here essay, here essay!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Shika, you better stop that right now! How did you know that one of my childhood nicknames was āCornyā? Grog, I buy for a family of 6! We do get a break on being able to shop at the military grocery store. The prices are much less than the regular stores. We also donāt have to pay taxes on items that are normally taxable.

Hi Johnny!

About 15 Years ago when I was still working in Montreal, the plant Controller from our Millhaven plant knick-named me P.I.T.A, - which was a lot better than my predecessor ās. His knick-name was F.U.B.B.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago

Grog, I went on the base to rent a car. The lady helping me was walking me to the car and told me it was in B.F.E. Iām looking around because all the buildings have letters and or numbers on them. She started to explain about the same time I figured it out. Duh!

GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy, I just have to make sure that I take my Nexium! I donāt eat stuff like that all the time any more.
In my younger days, we used to have contents to see who could make the spiciest Bloody Caesars. Without even asking, the waitress brought the bottle of tobasco to our table. I used to win those contests, by the way.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, I thought I was living dangerously by having chili cheesedogs!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Now chili is another thingā¦I like spice but I also like flavor.

If cleo wasnāt busy with guests, heād be popping in about now to tell us what he had for dinner to make me go running for the snacks - but with the food talk starting to pick up, that may happen with - or without cleo
carmy almost 15 years ago
I like spicy, but I do not like hot. I mean, how much can you really taste after your taste buds have disintegrated?
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy, I admit to being young & foolish at one time, which is why I have some of the health problems I have now. Now I tend to spice more for flavor than heat. But I still like the green tabasco on my scrambled eggs.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Why is the tabasco green? Green chilies?
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
I had chili made with turkey burger for lunch today. BTW, someone ran his butt off today! I got in a 4 mile hike, he did 20!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi JFri! I bet heās happy, but tired!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy, yes itās a milder, more flavorful tobasco.
Good Evening, JFri!

Howdy, Carmy & Grog! Carmy, I wonāt take that bet! ;-)
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Iām working on a tin can and string connection!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, I donāt like any kind of tabasco. JFri, did your weather get better?
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Oh, yeah! We had nearly 70 degrees and sunshine at the beach today! It was great!!
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri, that sounds rather primitive.

Grog, it is! I am on the edge of cellular civilization!

The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Carmy, youāre right! Sorry, Grog! Grog, I have satellite for TV. Just watched the NASCAR race and now the Sharks game!
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, on tape. Iām not sure what other Cary Grant movies I have on this tape. I didnāt label it. I think Arsenic and Old Lace is next.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I am watching a TCM movie called Ship of Fools. Itās a ship headed toward Germany with passengers having much of attitudes prevalent in 1933 Germany. Very interesting so far.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy, I have that one on DVD. One of my favorite Cary Grant movies.
carmy almost 15 years ago
Grog, Arsenic and Old Lace is next. Iām going to label the tape. Iām always forgetting whatās on there. I know I have Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer, The Bishopās Wife and maybe more. I wish I had some of The Thin Man movies.
GROG Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Carmy, I have the Thin Man movies on tape, but Iād like to upgrade to the DVD collection.
I have the Bachelor & the Bobby Soxer on tape and The Bishopās Wife on DVD, but I consider the latter a Christmas movie and will watch it during that season.
