Good Morning All. Can you believe this is the first opportunity that I have had to post since yesterday morning. I have been working and entertaining all day and night long. Some of our guests just left and the rest are getting ready for bed. I can not go to bed after such a social overload. I need to just sit down, have a cocktail and wind down. Which is what I am doing now.

Good afternoon to any who are here.

I was only able to skim a bit, but I caught the well-wishes for Stormy. I thank you and she says mrroooooww

Sheā€™s not getting better but I didnā€™t expect that. The anti-nausea drug seems to help the most. Ohhh though she hates the medicine. The first time my hubby held her for dosing she fought. She doesnā€™t fight it now, like she knows it is making her feel more comfortable but ohhhhh I wish you could see her face and the way she does that ā€˜yuck eeech phoie motions with her mouth and tongue. Hubby boils her chicken breasts, which she has been eating somewhat better than her regular food.

As for the rest of my real life, I am officially on probation now at work, called PIP of all things, Personal Improvement Plan I have already shown improvement in most of the areas, my supervisor hated to do it, but it has to go in my file. Sigh At least itā€™s not a writeup on my temperā€¦..and itā€™s only 60 days i/o the usual 90. So long as they donā€™t dump New York calls on us, or have us go back to bookings via phone Iā€™ll be just fine.

I hope everyone is doing well and having fun. Weā€™re celebrating our 33rd anniversary with Alice in Wonderland and dinner at Outback Steakhouse.

    Itā€™s officially afternoon, so

    good afternoon, all

Just got back from a funeral for a church member - 97 years young he was. His daughter has spent her life literallly taking care of her parents - sheā€™s in her 70s, never married, always at home. Saw her face as she was coming out after the funeral. She is absolutely devastated. I started to cry when I saw her. I mean - she finally can call her life her own and sheā€™s in her 70s? Bless her - I hope she can cope.

celecca - Good to see you too! Not that anyone wants his parents to die young, but there is a certain liberating sense when they do pass on. Having lost my mom (85) this fall, and my dad (82) a few years ago, of course I miss them, but Iā€™m looking forward to the freedom to not have to consider them in my plans. I can move further away, I can celebrate Motherā€™s Day the way I want, we can do holidays where & how we wish (hubbyā€™s parents are in FL, so havenā€™t impacted our plans as often), etc.

Rmom Yeah - I know what you mean. When pastor and I were discussing what the daughter was going to do, I suggested that he congregation buy her a cruise ticket in about 6 months. She deserves it.

I was not blessed with kids (and at 50, if it happens, it would be a miracle for the Lutheran Church!) but I appreciated my parents more the older I got and the more mistakes I made. Iā€™m blessed with a brother and sister who are parents and they are much closer to Mom & Dad that I will ever be because of that shared bond of parenthood.

Iā€™m back from the movie. Alice in Wonderland was good. Johnny Depp was amazing IMHOā€¦though Iā€™m sure a lot of that final dance was helped by CGI. And his eyes, WOW, they were something. The White Queen, though, didnā€™t seem to be able to put her hands down, they were almost always at shoulder level. IT like to drove me nuts.

Celecca We donā€™t talk religion here, but I gotta say it. A FELLOW LUTHERAN!!! Have you heard what Lutherans think of change?? ā€˜Change? CHANGEā€™ ā€˜Whatā€™s going to change!ā€™ ā€˜I prefer the green book.ā€™ ā€˜I like the red book better.ā€™ ā€˜Bring back the blue book!!!!ā€™ At least the cranberry book (the gasp new one) brought back the great Bach hymns.

Shika thanks for the encouragement about being in PIP. What annoys me most (and my supervisor sticks up for me) is the higher echelon thinks I was in Imports 1 month, maybe 6 weeks tops. It was 5.5 months! I wasnā€™t even in training anymore. I was handling my own ships, issuing my own invoices for charges, etc, etc without having to ask or be shown every little step. Sure, there were some things I needed help with, but I had the everyday basics down. After that calm pace I was dumped back in Exports because bookings had exploded and we were having to take New York rollover calls. Excuse meā€¦when 60-75% of my queue calls are NYC, NYC is putting themselves on ā€˜not readyā€™ and dumping on us. It was also 6 people handling the overflow for 15 people. Not to mention phone-in bookings. Once that stopped things got better, but they expected 100% improvement the next day. It ainā€™t gonna happen that fast, guys (and my supervisor understood). Anyway, so long as they donā€™t much up with my duties I will be just fine.

Gotta get to the kitchen. Hope everyone else is ok. Thereā€™s leftover prime rib, Aussie Fries, bloominā€™ onion and some carrot cake in the BT fridge. Help yourselves.

Doc That is a very good question. They should have some shopping carts lower but longer and put a stool underneath that they can pull out when needed. Even having just one per store, mebbe at the customer service counter, would be good. I feel for them when I see them climbing and jumping on TV.

Hello, Doctor Toon, celecca & Quaby

Doc, the Mezzetta products are all stored at a reachable levels in all the stores Iā€™ve been to down here. I donā€™t think thereā€™s much I buy thatā€™s top shelf. Fortunately though, I am average height, if that ever did happen.

celecca, Iā€™ve had height-challenged people ask me if I can get their product for them. Of course, I will gladly help them. Hopefully, if Iā€™m having back problems at any time, the favor will be returned on bottom shelf items.

Dry, I have nothing against Jalapenos. But I use them more in cooking though, rather than eating them raw.

There is a cajun stuffed pork chop that calls for - among other things - green chiles. However I will substitute jalapenos, because I have a jar of pickled diced jalapenos on hand. I often like to top my burgers and dogs with them on those rare occasions when I have burgers or dogs.

So is that being sissy? :^{)

After that I decided to go out and have fun with some friends of mine, knowing that it would take about four hours or so for the floor to dry.

I often have to climb on the bottom shelf at the grocery store to reach an item on the top shelf because no ONE is around. And the reason is usually because they didnā€™t re-stock the shelf and what I want is clear in the back!

Hi Carmy! Yes those rolls of plastic wrap, foil, etc. work well, if you have them in the cart at the time. Our stores are laid out that those are the last couple of rows, and usually what Iā€™m reaching for is before that.

In addition to knowing the layout, speed shopping can also help, especially when you forget to pick up an item or two on your list or remember something you need thatā€™s not on your list but at the other end of the store.

That usually only works in the early morning hours, when I do my shopping. I like to get out as fast as I got in.

Doc - It would be nice if the stores had those grabby arm thingys handy for shorter people to use. Of course, to keep them from disappearing, theyā€™d probably have to have them on a long retractable cord or something. I wish they didnā€™t have such deep shelves, although I understand the reason for it. When the store hasnā€™t been ā€œfacedā€ for a while, I find myself up to my armpit trying to reach something. Sometimes my arm isnā€™t long enough, and I have to ask for help. I also will ask a fellow customer to help me, if an employee isnā€™t handy.

I like spicy, but I do not like hot. I mean, how much can you really taste after your taste buds have disintegrated?

Carmy, I admit to being young & foolish at one time, which is why I have some of the health problems I have now. Now I tend to spice more for flavor than heat. But I still like the green tabasco on my scrambled eggs.

Why is the tabasco green? Green chilies?

Grog, on tape. Iā€™m not sure what other Cary Grant movies I have on this tape. I didnā€™t label it. I think Arsenic and Old Lace is next.

I am watching a TCM movie called Ship of Fools. Itā€™s a ship headed toward Germany with passengers having much of attitudes prevalent in 1933 Germany. Very interesting so far.

Grog, Arsenic and Old Lace is next. Iā€™m going to label the tape. Iā€™m always forgetting whatā€™s on there. I know I have Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer, The Bishopā€™s Wife and maybe more. I wish I had some of The Thin Man movies.

Carmy, I have the Thin Man movies on tape, but Iā€™d like to upgrade to the DVD collection.

I have the Bachelor & the Bobby Soxer on tape and The Bishopā€™s Wife on DVD, but I consider the latter a Christmas movie and will watch it during that season.
