Let’s just take a moment to appreciate how Flea instigated Buckles when the comic strip first debuted, and how he slowly transformed into Buckles’ conscience within a few years. Especially with how dark Buckles’ intentions got in the third panel, he’s quite fortunate to have Flea as his companion!

Do they take small dogs with fleas in the foreign legion?

Maybe you should run away from home, Buckles! But don’t go too far. You want Paul to find you and be so happy to have you back they’ll forgive you about the carpet.

Run away and join the circus!

I’m not quite sure just how Buckles is going to get out of this one , but his expressions and way he and his pal the Flea are trying to figure out a way from this mess is just precious : )

Buckles, you can always tell them it was time for new carpeting.

Drag the couch over it, and hope they won’t notice.

Even if Buckles confessed to what he did, he’s still gonna get put in the garage as punishment.

My doggie once did the same thing I saw in a cute video. He knew he’d done something wrong and he “tried” to hide under the couch, with his entire bottom half still exposed… ㋡

we got rid of all our carpeting 30 years ago, chewing wasn’t the issue.
