Perhaps an unintended consequence of Citizens United is that the Democrats have raked in twice the ready cash as the GOP. So Citizens United and Robert’s asinine decision are become a very ill wind that blows now SOME good.

Another gift from your SCOTUS via Citizens United, let’s let the Billionaire$$$ invest in their favorite policies and politicians with complete and total lack of transparency.

In a perfect world, all campaigns would be publicly funded and corporations who buy campaign ads had to identify themselves at the beginning (“We are the XYZ Corporation and we paid for the campaign ad you’re about to see.”). Alas, this world is far from perfect. And there have been political dirty tricks for eons. In the 1972 Presidential primary season Richard Nixon’s reelection committee, Committee to Reelect the President (CREEP), took advantage of anti-busing sentiment by distributing flyers aimed at Presidential hopeful, Sen. Edmund Muskie (D-ME) reading “Help Muskie in busing more schoolchildren now!” Politics has only gotten dirtier since then since the SCOTUS made their Citizens United verdict years earlier. I don’t know the answer to this dilemma, but that doesn’t mean we give up and say, “The animals can have the zoo!”
