OMG! We all have hair everywhere that we don’t want it resulting in us always finding ways to get rid of it except of course on our heads. We seem to want as much of it up there as possible. Then it seems that when there’s not enough up there guys try to compensate by growing all manner of doofus beards and stashes. Ladies compensate by wearing hats I guess.
I had a really good deal renting a house in Morro Bay with a view of the beach and Morro Rock. After I moved in, I adjusted the dining room venetian blinds and found bloodstains on the that side of the wooden slats. Upon examination of the door, I saw that the entire jamb had been cut out and replaced. That’s what you have to do when emergency services uses a battering ram to open the door. The landlord confirmed there had been a suicide. I’m not superstitious and it was an incredible view. Good deal for six years!
We once lived in a house where one of the previous owners died in bed (cancer). Never bothered us but early one morning I heard a voice ask “Can you see me?”
We bought this house in the early 1980s from the prior owner. Early on I would store the past 3 years of our financial records in the attic – take out the oldest year & shred them & store the new year’s. Sounds like a simple idea.
The attic is accessed through a rather small panel in the ceiling of one of the second bedroom’s closet. To get access to the attic most items in the closet had to be removed including the shelf near the top of the closet. A special thin folding ladder we bought had to put into place. I then had to climb the ladder and remove the piece of wood which served as a trap door to the attic.
I then had to slide on my stomach across the dusty attic floor to where the boxes of records were stored. Take the oldest year’s and leave the new year’s records. Slide back across the attic floor and reverse everything which I had done to get in there. I have not been up there since the late 1980s as I came up a way to store 10 years of records on the top shelf of the other closet in that room since much of the paperwork went onto the computer and is not physical paperwork.
I recently ran into a situation where I have a forgotten memory. Husband and one of my sisters-BIL remember vaguely part of what went on – but it is driving me crazy that I cannot remember it and if it affects something with me now. After a month or so I realized that the records – including appointment book – might be in the attic. I thought about climbing up there and looking.
But I am old now and the climb would be even harder. There is 30 or so years more dust on the floor up there. We had mice and they may have left a trail behind them up there that I would be crawling through on my stomach. So the mystery remains.

I see that Adam has hairy arms, and I have to wonder if his nose is hairy, too.

There’s a series idea here Adam. You can call it The Treasure Chest in the Attic.

A ghost would have been a great addition to the strip.

Well, it’s not big enough for a body, so it should be alright.

Speaking of death, I’m so glad that none of our relatives died in the house that we inherited. Thank goodness for modern paliative care …
