Today is Saint George’s Day and it is still widely celebrated here in England. Countries were Saint George is Patron Saint also include the largely Muslim countries of Libya and Palestine. Let us all pray for peace in Palestine.
As I have mentioned before there is a pub to the north of Chester city centre called George And The Dragon. It is situated between Liverpool Road and Parkgate Road. There is still a large model dragon at the front of the pub which has been closed for the past few years. It is hoped that the George And The Dragon will be reopening in the coming year.
back in the day, one for the road meant a beer in a go cup and exit out the back door. something to sip on as you wander home. In those days the charge was “Liquor other than residence” and garnered a 15 dollar fine. The worst part is they poured out the beer.
Happy Birthday: William Shakespeare April 1564 – 23 April 1616. Age 5 An English playwright, poet, and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and maybe worldwide. Died 800 years ago and likely most quoted writer of all time. Andy buy Old Bill a large lager. William loved drinking.

Andy doesn’t need one for the road. He’d just spill it when they chuck him out.
