Best wishes for whatever the situation is. But you have great hair! I’ve got a couple of school pictures that are unfortunate too. I think the best is 1963 with the teased up and brushed back crown finished off with a tiny bow, just slightly crooked right smack dab in the middle front, plus catseye glasses!
I recognize that “take the picture already so I can return my neck to a natural position” smile from my own school pics. The photog’s instructions to avoid glare from glasses were torturous! I imagine it wasn’t much fun for them, either.
Once again, I see you’re a bit like me back then. I’ve NEVER taken good pictures, thus the kitty photo to your left. Actually it says more about me than my picture would anyway. I like the top one for your hair style, and bottom for your smile. The glasses speak to the times more than anything.
All the best to you these few days away. School photos, sigh, fondly remembering our days of getting to be kids. You totally carry off the first, with the glasses and that smile, the second, with the Elizabethan ruff, the lush russett bangs, side wings, and an aloof Shakespearean glance…:-))

I think that when you say “school portraits”, the “unfortunate” is already implied.
