When we did a garage sale for my MIL, my wife and I were up all night. Never again!

Many sales will have the words “No early birds!” to avoid this problem.

It’s all for sale, if you can find it before I put it out that’s fine

Don’t expect an early bird special, prices don’t come down until much later in the day

Some behave the same at garage sales, as they do at stores. Arrive early, pick over every stack, leaving each a mess, (yeah, I’ve worked retail) then buy one little thing – maybe.

On a lark, threw some stuff in my pickup and went to a swap meet once. Truck hadn’t stopped rolling when people were all up in the bed pawing through stuff. Struck me as rude.

Pretty slim pickin’s in that garage, I’ve seen some you couldn’t put a toothpick in.

I hate those people. They come early, ask about things that are not set out for sale, try to get into parts of your garage you have deliberate closed off and wind up buying nothing. Get a life.

Don’t go to garage sales and have never have had one.

Husband and I are each crafts artists in a variety of different media. One year we decided to have a pre- Christmas sale in our garage (aka his wood shop – no car is ever in it) of our work for Christmas gifts. We live on a 4 lane main road – how easy to advertise it with a sign in front of the house from a couple weeks before. One of our next door neighbors (the one on the driveway side) was the only person to come – she did buy from us, but I got the feeling that only because she felt sorry for us (old enough to be our grandmother).
