I heard of an English speed eater than wanted to go to the States to take part in their competitions. He’d been practicing on eating hot dogs quickly. When he turned up at the states, he thought he’d better try the US dogs to see what they were like. He found them a lot saltier than he’d expected or was used to, so didn’t do particularly well in the contest.I have to say though, when we tried hot dogs in the States recently, I didn’t find them that salty. Are the different in different states (we were in NY)

I can’t watch that! It makes me sick watching people gorge themselves.

He even considered entering the hotdog-eating contest, but it just seemed wrong.
