A lot of it depends on which anniversary it is. A dinner that she has to, or wants to cook would be appropriate for a one week anniversary. Dinner out would be good for a one month anniversary. Rings would be appropriate at about 3 months.
A washer and dryer shows life long commitment. A couple rolls of quarters, not so much.
