Well, these two must be Swabians with a Daimler on their vacation in the desert. Nothing else would explain this stupidity. “Heiligs Blechle no amol!”

On the first part of the journey

I was looking out for a loo

There were no plants, no birds but rocks and things

There was sand and hills and cactus’ stings

The first thing I hit was a fly with the windshield

And the sky with no clouds

The heat was hot and the ground was dry

But the car was full of sand

I’ve been through the desert in a car with my dame

It felt good to not usin’ the rail

In the desert you can just play the hose game

‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pail

La la la la la la…

A recent article in the Washington Post, titled “A water war is brewing between the U.S. and Mexico”, is about the increasingly dire water supply situation around the US/Mexican border. One state rep from Texas says, “We keep on getting lucky. Right when we’re on the verge of running out of water, we get a tropical storm.” Pretty bad when a tropical storm is your best hope.

Saw a show where a family decided to take the truck out to the desert. Because, why not? They hit a ditch and the truck is disabled. The battery on the phone is dead, of course. They split up, naturally. Because the gods favor idiots they all get rescued eventually. This was a reenactment of a true event. Brainworms?!

Ah, but you did it together. Quality time. Your ‘lost in the desert’ pics will look so much better.

I’d been on business trips with coworkers who insisted on taking the rental car to a carwash.

People really are crazy about cars. There was a time when a car would rust through without regular washing and washing. It’s just not necessary with modern paints. I drive a 30-year-old Camry. I only wash it during a rain with two drops of Dawn on a sponge for the whole car. I’ve never waxed it.

My neighbors just spent I do not know how much for a “mobile detailer” to spend 8 hours shining up their cars. Yet I hear them complaining about how poor they are.

Just carry a jar of Nestea and a canteen of water. According to the commercials (which never lie or exaggerate) mixing up a glass of Nestea will cause a huge pool to form right behind you to fall into. Then you can drink your fill, fill your canteen, have a nice swim, maybe play with your dog. And you’ll leave a string of pools behind you, much appreciated by the next traveler.

Now that they’ve washed their car, it’s going to rain.

guys in these parts love nothing better than spending a couple hours or four lovingly washing their vehicles. they’d do it every day if it weren’t for the water bill…
