I like the periodical cicadas because it reminds me of a simpler time living on the farm and it was a sign of Summer. Besides they only live up to 25 days.
We could barely hear them from the woods behind us here in FVH Glenn. A coworker who lives in Belleville said they’re a lot worse there. They should be over about now except for the regular annuals.

Don’t have them where we live, so don’t know. Where do all the bug carcasses go when they all die? Seems like they’d be pretty thick underfoot.
