From yesterday’s comments, JLChi said, “I saw something really nice walking the other day in our beautiful park and around one of the big ponds. Some horrible boys had sprayed graffiti all over all the big plastic trash receptacles — and there are a lot of them. It was so ugly and nasty, and it just made me sick. Then I saw an older man going from one to another, scrubbing the graffiti off. Wow. I told him I was so grateful for his good deed and very hard work.”
I don’t get some people! We had something like that happen here (was it last year?). A group of kids took every book out of all the Free Little Libraries we have in town (we have4 or 5 of them. Not bad for a village with only about 1700 people). Then they took them out – if I remember right, it was some kind of park – and they threw the books all over the ground just for fun. They did get caught, but they showed no remorse for what they had done. People in town were so outraged, they donated so many more books to the Free Little Libraries, there wasn’t room to fit them all.
Well, driving home from work last night, I saw a deer. She (I think it was a doe, but it’s hard to see in the dark) was just standing there, well enough off the road so it wasn’t a problem. But my deer whistles didn’t scare her off. It could be because of the slight downward slant of my bumper which has the whistles pointing down just a bit. So, I still can’t say with any level of confidence whether or not they actually work. I never used to see as many deer as I’ve been seeing lately (both living and the road kill). It still isn’t nearly every night that I see deer, but I used to go for months on end without seeing deer (dead ones don’t count). Now, it seems like it’s every few weeks or even less. It wasn’t that long ago that I nearly hit those 2 fawns. My first night driving my new car.
Bad Cat is quite a suitable role for Chesney and Jack. As for being detectives, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson they’re not. On another note, saw a Wilson’s warbler, a robin, a spotted towhee, and a dragonfly while out walking today.

That broom sure would make a good swatter about now.

Ignore a dog and they’ll getting anxious and whine. Ignore a cat and they’ll go to sleep. Go to sleep, Ches. And take Jack with you.

A broom would be a better tool than a yardstick [see my comment from yesterday] for dislodging a ball stuck under something.
