I tended to be friends with boys when young. Mom would ask for a list for my birthday party and almost all would be boys – instead she would invite the girls on our block who picked on me and were nasty to me to the parties.
I continued to be friends with boys as life went along. Husband and I were friends long before we started dating. We are still friends – almost 50 years since we were first friends – and have conversations as friends including such as me " hey look at that hot girl!" or him encouraging me to join Facebook after my saying to him that there is no one from the past I am interested in looking up – “What about Mark your high school boyfriend?” as opposed to him being jealous if I had done so.
I am an extremely straight female – born so – but I have always tended to think that the girls/women I know are interested in silly things and the boys tend to be interested in more interesting things (and I don’t mean sports – but science, history, mathematics, etc.) I am a hand embroiderer though as a hobby – but then again, traditionally it was a man’s trade.

When my daughter was very young she would say all boys had cooties, and were stinky!!!

As a boy, I can say that maybe she was correct.

Sometimes puppy love comes across as Godzilla love.
