What year did this comic come out? Joan is driving while using her cell phone. I remember we did that for a while before we realized doing so caused accidents. Judging by the size of her phone I’d say this was around 1993.
I remember visiting my dad’s relatives in Detroit as a kid. The ladies were taking Grandma shopping and my aunt said that she only had a little while because she had to get home to see her soap opera. I think my grandma thought that a little unnecessary, and she was a really sweet lady. Technology would have allowed my aunt to record her show. The thing about all of our isolating gadgets is that it confuses people as to what is more important—convenience, family, job, or entertainment.
