FYI: The only time a ping should be heard in a submarine is when a surface ship is using active sonar. Movies and TV constantly add the ping for a sound effect when they should not. Submarines use hydrophones (underwater microphone) to detect surface ships and other submarines. The movie “The Hunt for Red October” gives an accurate use of sonar and hydrophones.

Same way you turn off “It’s a small world” when you leave Disneyland.

I wish people would stop saying “stealth submarine”. There aren’t a lot of “overt submarines”, at least the naval sort.
