A dog’s concept of personal space is very different than that of the average human.

I have adopted shelter pups and they are so loving. My best guy ever is a foster named Foster.

He is the best dog I have ever had. He is my best friend :-))

All my dogs have been rescues. I got my last dog soon after my wife passed. She is a pitbull mix that had been in the shelter 14 months. She is very sweet and protective. We saved each other, and she won’t let anyone get past her unless I tell her it is ok and then they are best friends. I could not have found a better dog than her.

I often find this strip too depressing in concept. How many years have they lived in an animal shelter with concrete floors and cinder brick walls now without a real home or loving owners?

My first dog was a tiny, black and white cocker spaniel puppy. It was 1955, and I was five years old — my sister was 4. We didn’t even know we were getting a dog! He was a rescue, but I don’t know where he came from, only that Dad came home from work one day, and pulled a snuggly little ball of fur from his pocket. We named our puppy “Pepper” — my sister, Pepper, and I all grew up together.

Some folks get a dog as a fashion accessory, they tend to go to puppy-mills. Some folks get a dog because they want a dog and a dog’s love in their life. I have always gone to shelters. In So. Cal, Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar is a great place from which to adopt!

No, it’s because we like having you around as a comic strip.

Ah my blessed little puppers do not get in mom’s face first thing in the morning. One curls up at the foot of the bed and one sneaks under my blanket and curls up hoping I won’t get up soon.

Will just needs to find a fellow curmudgeon. They can sit on the porch and complain as the world goes by.
