Only about 2,985 gallons more than Broomie’s Belvedere, and probably about 2,000 gallons short of the gas station’s gas storage tank maximum capacity. Broomie can only hope that those 3,000 gallons weren’t the last of the gas station’s supply, that it had more than that in it’s storage tank.

What is the alien using for money?

A PBY Catalina will hold almost half that; and a pilot of one told me of those halcyon days when gas stations gave green stamps.
