North by Northwest is a tale of mistaken identity, with an innocent man pursued across the United States by agents of a mysterious organization trying to prevent him from blocking their plan to smuggle SXSW secrets, out of the country.
Our host no doubt appreciates the marvelous Saul Bass-designed opening credits along with the marvelous work of the cast, including the still-living Eva Marie Saint (100!), the soundtrack and script. And then there’s that final shot. If not his best picture it’s certainly in the discussion. Also, on the personal level, the first color 35mm feature I ever showed as a projectionist back in ‘78.

There has to be an easier way to feel like Cary Grant.

Mr. Lux even looks a little like Mr. Grant—I was immediately reminded of him. Must be the expression.

The train entering the tunnel scene proved that movies don’t have to be explicit about what the protagonists are doing.
