I resemble that remark. RA since age 13. Painful days but most times manageable. I am now a few weeks short of 64 and the RA is progressing and the nasty effect are starting to show, and they are indeed nasty as well as painful! Yes, I am getting a terrible old!
I’m not sure it’s the age, but the mileage…I’m 57, diabetic since 2007, neuropathy started about 2 years ago. I used to ride motorcycles, but after a small crash 2 years ago, lost my acl in my left knee, and broke some toes and fractured some ribs. I can feel rain coming hours before it gets here. I also went deaf in my left ear, and got a hole in my right eardrum. I get vertigo often, also started a few years back. I gave up my motorcycle this year….sigh. Better to fall at home than to be a hundred miles away on a bike.
I sit here and ponder the fire burning before me. Interesting the pictures that the flames seem to cast as they soar freely into the air around them. But I am only allowed to ponder for a short while as the wife says “Blow them out before you burn down the house” as she vigilantly stands by the table with the fire extinguisher. YEP, I’m catching an “old” and every year it gets bigger and bigger and harder to ward off.

Yeah, it’s getting harder to adjust to the various maladies and infirmities with advancing age. All the doctor tells me, is: “As you age…”
