Objectively it’s not much worse than those old nursery rhymes. The characters are falling down hills, off of walls, or into wells; then there’s scary spiders, blind and tailless mice, lost livestock (some of which achieve lunar orbit), animals playing musical instruments, and eloping kitchenware.
And don’t even get me started on the mayhem in Grimms Fairy tales.
Anybody else ever have a real Lovecraftian nightmare, with dark entities tearing at your flesh and sucking out your soul for eternity? Not really that entertaining.

I love H.P. Lovecraft! He, Ray Bradbury, and Robert Heinlein are my favorite authors.

Have the book and have read it several times. Vote Chthulhu 2024 – why settle for the lesser evil?
