Woman: What are you doing putting ketchup on my souffle??? I worked all day on that! Are you out of your mind?? Man: No, but we are almost out of ketchup.
There is a time and place for ketchup/catsup. The USA had one president who put it on cottage cheese and another who thought it counted as a vegetable for school lunches. I have tried it on many things and found it can enhance the taste of some things and not so much for others. YMMV. (Side question: Does anyone remember the green and purple coloured varieties put forth by some deluded manufacturer?)

My cousin was visiting one year and she put ketchup all over her Christmas dinner. My Mum was NOT amused.

Valentina hot sauce. Makes any “I thought I’d try making something different” dinner better.

I’ve always felt that adding stuff to a dish before I tasted it was an insult to the chef/cook who prepared it. YMMV of course.
