Seriously, though, isn’t it time we rethought the idea of standardized spellings? I understand it made sense at the time it was invented, but, as literacy has become more common and text has become a more common and casual way to communicate, I can’t help but think that standardized spelling is increasingly becoming a form of elitism that stifles creativity, without any significant benefits.
