I have 2 coffee dates each week: one at a privately-operated cafe and one at an international cafe. The coffee is better, closer and less expensive at the private cafe, but the other place is more convenient for the others in my “party.” Two social excursions a week is my limit!
Our backwoods valley general store has kickbutt coffee for $1.50 for a travel mug fill. The geezer club (there are people older than me) all have their own cups. Their sitting area is called the back pasture.
Interestingly, In the 1800s, the English considered beer to be the only appropriate breakfast drink. Beer was weak, with an alcohol content of 0.5–2.0%, but it provided energy and a feeling of fullness.
The European World Health Organization notes that the history of alcohol consumption in Europe, especially that of wine and beer, spans several thousand years dating all the way back to the ancient Greeks. Alcohol was so embedded in European culture that during the Middle Ages (500 to 1400–1500 CE), people often drank beer or wine in the mornings and throughout the day (via Alcohol Problems & Solutions).
Lancaster Brewery explains that the reason beer, was so popular for breakfast was because of its calories. In the European Middle Ages, manual labor like farming or masonry were common jobs and they required a lot of energy. At the time, the caloric value of beer gave laborers an energy boost. Wine was usually drunk by those who were wealthier and noble due to its high cost (via Slate). But Coffee Expressco states that once coffee was introduced to the European workforce in the 17th century, it became clear that coffee was a superior source of energy, and coffee houses opened by the hundreds.
I can’t imagine why the Teitlebaums didn’t provide us with a cartoon on Trumptard’s policy outline of “Childcare is childcare” and relatively inexpensive since he is going to add trillions to tariffs that will be passed onto US citizens as price increases.
Or maybe JD Vance’s school shootings are just a fact of life and we need to get used to it.
I sure do want to see someone ask Trumptard about the Georgia school shootings so he can respond with his famously empathetic, “There are good people on both sides” defense.
Or maybe the story of Russia’s $10 million funding of Tenet Media to pay out as much as $100,000 to right-wing influencers softball interviewing Republitards for Rusian benefit. It isn’t collusion because they duped the Republtiards. Of course, Republitards getting duped is status quo.
I don’t know why! Decaf and regular coffee cost the same at the store or at a restaurant. I paid 3.19 for a regular cup of coffee at Cracker Barrel, never again……
