I have heard that you are never more than a meter away from a spider.

Go home and say hello to your spiders?

This storyline prompted me to do a bit of research on tarantulas. They will bite if provoked, but a tarantula bite is not likely to require medical attention. I still have no desire to handle one of them!

I have slept in huts in South America with thatch roofs and watched the tarantulas come out at night. They stay high up and never bother anyone. Some were as big as my hand.

So, contrary to what some posters were saying yesterday, today’s strip shows that there really is a tarantula.
