At least his not a soccer player. Read somewhere in the BBC news website they are firing the director (coach) of the Australian Soccer Team (not trying to insult Aussies since I am admirer of both of the “big” Commonwealth nations down under, obviously Australia and New Zealand and had schoolmate from NZ in High School): it sucks! And should I mention how much attention or even if except for die hard soccer fans (a rare breed in the States) how many guys in the USA even pay attention to the US Soccer Team. And again if you celebrate you won against Mexico, any South American would laugh in your face, as one guy from Peru told me, Peru is not a great team but if Mexico had to play in the CONMEBOL (the South American Football Association) they would not only could lose to Bolivia but may never even be in any world cups. Unlike the US sport fans I know a lot of die hard Mexicans soccer fans are already calling someone on the phone to order a horrible, slow and grizzly, painful death. And my apologies. But the TRI just does not play that well, and they are lucky to be in the CONCACAF (NA, Central America and Caribbean), since at least that kind of makes it easier to classify to the World Cup, and as what happened in 1990 (Mexico did not classify to the 1990 Italy World Cup) it is not guaranteed. It has possibilities, but it needs to lay off the corruption and favoritism in the sport. Which in Mexico, not just with soccer as well as many other things, is a tall order. Again that goes for the rest of Latin America and many other nations worldwide. But at least South Americans make an exception with Soccer, they don’t need bad national teams on top of their existing problems, so they actually do invest in their teams and players, the CONMEBOL even has even official fully funded Football Schools in several countries to attract young talent.
